39. Which is the most popular UP170?
The two most popular UP170 models are the UP170-1895 which has a AA section 12 volt clutch and the UP170-2385 which has a B section 24 volt clutch. Both these compressors are readily interchangeable with a variety of heavy duty compressors including the popular Sanden SD510 and Diesel Kiki TM17. Also many other older models with 83mm lug spacing such as Abacus, Sankyo, Zexel, Tama and Ogura.
40. What is unique about the UP170?
The UP170 is considered an excellent choice for capacity versus overall size for many heavy duty applications. The 170cc capacity provides superior output to other models and is still in a suitable price bracket for a wide variety of applications where slightly more compressor output is required; for example, medium to small size twin systems, systems with long hose runs and large capacity roof top units. In addition the UP170 is the only 10 cylinder swashplate compressor in this capacity available today. It has an extremely quiet and smooth operation and delivers high relative output through all rev ranges. Also the low side service valve can be placed in two positions on the compressor. The compressor operates in either clockwise or counter clockwise directions.

Mostly in truck and tractor applications. With the increase in popularity of small mini bus airconditioning, the UP170 is the preferred choice of many operators due to capacity, overall size and price. Larger systems require UP200/UX260/UX310 models dependig on system capacity.

Yes, a metal clutch cover is fitted to most A and B section clutches on the UP170. This is usually a requirement for most heavy duty applications for added seal protection where dusty and dirty conditions prevail.

The UP170 , like all the A Group models is available in a choice of ports. This is achieved by the interchangeability of the rear caps between all the A Group models and these caps are available with NO.8 and NO.10 flare or o-ring

A direct mount rather than a lug mount version of the UP170. All the features available on the UP170 are also available on the UX170 and both have the same range of clutches available. The compressor operates in either clockwise or counter clockwise directions. The direct or `bolt through' mounting points on the UX170 are spaced 78mm apart in length and 128mm in height.
